Vinyl Plotter Blade Offset & Cutting Force Guide
Vinyl cutting plotters (Roland CAMM-1, Graphtec FC9000, SummaCut, Cricut, Silhouette Cameo) use swivel drag knives where the sharp blade tip trails slightly behind the physical rotational center of the blade holder. This trailing distance is the Blade Offset (typically $0.25 - 0.75\text{mm}$). If the offset parameter is incorrectly calibrated, sharp 90-degree vector corners will become either rounded loops or jagged ear horns, ruining small typography and making decal weeding impossible.
